Transnational collaborations between artists and communities

When artists situate themselves as global citizens and work with communities across countries and cultures, their impact is large in scale – providing people they work with with a sense of purpose, belonging, healing, and voice. They literally knit the world together. The interpersonal relationships and the understanding that these socially engaged projects create result in great empathy and support. Large issues of climate change, refugees at the border, and sustainability become powerful triggers for innovative social practice methods that are inclusive and expansive.

This particular group of artists unites people by collaborating with communities across borders, nations, politics, race, ethnicity, and class – to find social meaning – to celebrate and advance human freedom and creativity. –Marcelino Stuhmer
