Climate change continues to have a disproportionate impact on the most vulnerable communities around the globe, including migrants and communities of color – people who are typically marginalized in our society. Justseeds, in collaboration with CultureStrike (CultureStrike is now part of the Center for Cultural Power), forged partnerships between artists and frontline environmental justice organizations to create this portfolio, which sought to highlight the effects of climate change on these communities.
The portfolio drew inspiration from the powerful work of grassroots groups that have championed creative and community-based solutions to combat climate change; and that have resisted industrial fossil fuel projects, fracking operations, destructive mining practices, and the transportation of toxins. The art amplified voices from the frontline communities most impacted by global warming and destructive environmental practices.

about the collective
Justseeds Artists’ Cooperative is a decentralized network of 41 artists committed to social, environmental, and political engagement. Founded in 1998, and originally the graphics distribution project of Josh MacPhee, Justseeds made the transformation into a worker-owned cooperative in 2007 and is currently based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. With members working from the USA, Canada, and Mexico, Justseeds operates both as a unified collaboration of similarly minded printmakers and as a loose collection of creative individuals with unique viewpoints and working methods. Firmly committed to personal expression in concert with collective action, Justseeds produces collective portfolios, contributes graphics to grassroots struggles for justice, works collaboratively both in and outside the co-op, builds large sculptural installations in galleries, and wheatpastes on the streets.
